The practical link

A good system gives you more control. Your tariff decides the rules.

Solar can generate electricity during the day. A battery can store suitable surplus generation or, where appropriate, electricity bought in lower-cost periods. An EV charger can be planned around your home routine. The system, tariff and household usage need to be considered together.

01 · Install and configure

HEG designs the equipment.

We check the property, electrical supply and selected Hanchu ESS or EV equipment through our normal survey and installation process.

02 · Choose your tariff

Octopus confirms the offer.

Octopus controls tariff availability, current prices, compatible devices, smart-meter connection and account enrolment.

03 · Use the right settings

Review how your home uses energy.

Your consumption, solar generation, EV routine, battery capacity and tariff windows help determine the most practical approach.

Works with Octopus compatible Hanchu ESS equipment

What “Works with Octopus” means here.

The supplied Works with Octopus mark relates to compatible Hanchu ESS technology. It means the equipment can be part of a compatible Octopus smart-tariff journey; it does not mean that every tariff is available to every home or that HEG can approve a customer’s tariff application.

HEG remains responsible for the survey-led system design and installation. Octopus remains responsible for tariff terms, pricing, availability, device connection and customer enrolment. Our team can help you understand the equipment; Octopus is the source for your final tariff decision.

Common questions

Clear answers before you decide.

Do Hanchu systems work with Octopus Energy tariffs?

A Hanchu hybrid solar-and-storage system can be configured around suitable time-of-use tariffs. Hanchu ESS is listed by Octopus in the Intelligent Octopus Flux eligibility selector. That does not guarantee enrolment: Octopus confirms current tariff availability, compatible equipment and the final customer setup.

Do I need a smart meter?

Many Octopus smart tariffs require a smart meter that can provide half-hourly readings. Octopus publishes the current meter requirements for each tariff and confirms whether a customer’s meter can connect.

Which tariff will save me the most?

There is no single best tariff for every home. Usage, solar generation, battery capacity, EV charging, tariff windows, export arrangements and household habits all matter. HEG can explain the system side; Octopus provides current tariff pricing, terms and final eligibility.

Does a Works with Octopus mark mean HEG can enrol me?

No. The mark relates to compatible Hanchu ESS equipment. HEG designs and installs the system; Octopus controls tariff availability, account switching, device connection and enrolment.
